The Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing attended a seminar at Applied Science University on the role of alternative sentencing in reinforcing human rights. The event was held to mark International Human Rights Day and within the Faculty of Law’s Scientific Day activities. During the event, the Director-General asserted that the alternative sentencing and open prisons programme are a bright side of the human rights accomplishments, per the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the dedication of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He said that the Interior Minister, led by His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, is dedicated to adopting the best global standards for alternative sentencing and open prisons. He valued the partnership with various organisations to enhance rehabilitation and training programmes to reintegrate the beneficiaries into society.
Dr Waheeb Al Khaja thanked the Director-General for attending the seminar that was part of the university's efforts to promote human rights in Bahrain. The event discussed the importance of alternative sentencing and open prisons to promote human rights.
