MOI

The Northern Governor, Ali bin Al Shaikh Abdulhussein Al Asfoor, attended the closing ceremony of the fishing competition organised by the Northern Governorate in cooperation with the Marine Heritage Sports Committee in Budaiya. Thirty fishermen representing various villages and cities of the Northern Governorate participated.

The Northern Governor expressed the governorate's keenness to hold this annual event, mainly since it occurs during national celebrations that are deeply meaningful to everyone, including the celebration of Bahrain's national celebrations.

The Governor stressed the importance of reviving marine heritage sports and taking pride in the professions of fathers and grandfathers. He thanked the sponsors.

Participants from Al-Malikiyah achieved advanced positions by winning various competition prizes. Sea Captain (Al-Nukhadha) Mohammad Ibrahim Kadhim won the award for the most significant catch weight of 44 kg. Sea Captain Redha Mahdi Kadhim won the largest Grouper fish (hamour) with a weight of 4.70 kg, and Sea Captain Khalil Ibrahim won the award for the giant kingfish. The ceremony concluded with an exhibition selling fish from the competition's proceeds, with large crowds attending to watch the competition between the fishermen.
