During his visit to the United States, the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, met the Chief of Witness Security Programmes, Bryan Feinstein and Administrator of the Intelligence and Counter Terrorism Branch, Miranda Faust, both from the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Probation Administrator at the Administrative Office at the US Courts, Paul Brennan.
The US officials welcomed the visit of the Director-General, highlighting its importance in promoting ties between the two friendly countries. They asserted the strategic and permanent relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the Director-General hailed the strategic partnership between Bahrain and the United States, cooperation in law enforcement, and expertise exchange in fighting crimes and promoting justice and equality.
He highlighted the alternative sentencing project and open prison programme as a fruitful outcome of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's reform project. He noted the support of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He said that the Interior Minister, led by His Excellency the Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, is dedicated to adopting the latest international standards in alternative sentencing and open prisons.
He highlighted the goals of the alternative sentencing project and the open project programme, which are both part of the initiatives of the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism. He affirmed the significance of modern technology in exchanging expertise and information to promote human rights values and principles.
