Chief of Public Security opens a workshop

The Chief of Public Security Chairman of the National Civil Emergency Management Committee Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hasan Al Hasan, opened a training workshop on the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015 - 2030, which outlines the role of governments and society in reducing disaster risks and preventing their emergence. 

 

The workshop, which is held by the Crisis and Disaster Management Directorate of the General Directorate of Civil Defence in cooperation with the Royal Academy of Police, and with the participation of various relevant government agencies, is scheduled to last for two days. It aims to emphasize the importance of disaster risk reduction governance and building national capabilities when using this system to report progress in achieving the 38 indicators of the Sendai Framework.

 

The Chief of Public Security asserted the importance of holding these training workshops aimed at raising the readiness of various relevant authorities in the implementation of the directives of His Excellency Interior Minister Chairman of the Civil Defence Council, to pay attention to civil protection, promote sustainable work, and build capabilities in civil emergency management and disaster risk reduction. He noted that this workshop reviews the “Sendai” monitoring system approved by the United Nations of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, and it achieves the highest levels of readiness to confront emergencies, preserve national development gains, support and increase early warning systems of complex risks, and enhance international cooperation in disaster risk reduction.
