The Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, received the Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy, David Brownstein.
He welcomed the US official, highlighting that the alternative sentencing project and the open prisons programme are part of the royal human rights initiatives. He hailed the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted the significance of exchanging expertise and cooperation between friendly countries.
The US official hailed Bahrain's accomplishments in the alternative sanctions and the accreditation of the open prisons programme by the American Correctional Association as the first foreign programme outside the United States.
