Preliminary matches of MOI Bahrain Tennis Challenger commence

The preliminary round matches of the Ministry of Interior Bahrain Tennis Challenger resulted in the victory of the Turkish player Yankı Erel over the Russian player Petr Bar Biryukov in two strokes, 6/4 and 6/1 in the first match.

In the second match, the Portuguese player Gastro Elias defeated Marko Nikolic with a score of 6/3. And 6/1. The third match brought together the British player Ali Habib and the Serbian player Viktor Durasovic, which the latter won with a score of 3/6, 6/2, and 6/2. The preliminary rounds will continue until Monday, so six players will qualify for the main rounds. 

The Australian player Christopher O'Connell, the first classifier of the Ministry of Interior Tennis Challenger, expressed happiness about his participation. 

He highlighted his participation as an excellent opportunity to showcase his performance by bringing out his skills and athletic abilities in this tournament, expressing his thanks for the excellent reception and hospitality and that he is very excited for the fans who would interact with the competitions in the tournament.

For his part, Bahraini player Yousef Qaed confirmed that he is ready to meet the Italian player Fabio Fognini in his first match, where he will do his best to win and achieve success. He proudly represents the Kingdom of Bahrain in this global tournament and looks forward to achieving the best results. 

The Swedish player Elias Ymer, ranked eighth in the tournament, pointed out that it is the first time he has participated in the Ministry of Interior Bahrain Tennis Challenger, organised by the Ministry of Interior of Bahrain, praising the excellent preparation and organisation. He said: “After my recent participation in the Australian Open, I am keen to participate in this tournament. I will do my best to provide an outstanding performance and achieve victory.”
