In the MOI Bahrain Tennis Challenger finale, HE Interior Minister: Bahraini sports achieve distinguished milestones

His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa attended the Ministry of Interior Bahrain Tennis Challenger finale on Saturday evening.  

HM the King's Advisor for Youth and Sports Affairs, Saleh bin Isa Bin Hindi, His Excellency President of the Asian Football Confederation, Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa and Minister of Youth Affairs, Rawan Bint Najeeb Tawfiqi attended. 

HE the Interior Minister asserted that Bahraini sports have achieved distinguished milestones and topped many international championships and tournaments, out of the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He hailed the interests and follow-up of His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to provide all success factors for Bahraini sports teams to achieve top positions. 

He also hailed the support of the Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and his creative innovations and sports ambitions that have no limits in youth and sports sectors, in a way that promoted the value of Bahraini athletes and sustainable sports approach. 

He commended the excellence of the 3rd edition of the tournament through its professional players who enjoy advanced world rankings, competitive sports performance committed to sportsmanship, creative activities on the sidelines of the event and good organisation. 

He thanked the General Supervisor of the tournament, members of the organising committee, the Bahrain Tennis Federation for their effective cooperation, and the Public Security Sports Association and the Public Security and the Officers Club for their efforts in contributing to making the event among the top 5 tournaments in the world during the year 2023.

HE the Interior Minister and tennis fans attended the final match in the singles competition in which the Kazakhstani player Mikhail Kukushkin defeated the fifth seed in the tournament, the French Richard Gasquet, with scores of 7/6 and 6/4. 

The duo of Spanish Sergio Martos Gornes and the Greek Petros Tsitsipas won the title in the doubles category in the final match after beating the duo of American Vasil Kirov and the Finnish Patrik Niklas Salminen, with scores of 3/6, 6/3, and 10/8.  

HE the Minister of Interior honoured the winners with trophies and memorial gifts.
