The Coast Guard has concluded a two-day workshop on maritime control with the participation of representatives of the Supreme Council for Environment, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication, the Fisheries Directorate, and the Fishermen Society.
The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of the Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassam, Coast Guard Commander, Brigadier Jassim Al Ghattam and the Director of Fisheries, Mohammed Yousif.
The Chief highlighted that the workshop was part of the instructions of His Excellency Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa out of the dedication to implement the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to protect the fisheries and natural resources and set related procedures and regulations. He hailed the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to authorities concerned about protecting natural resources and maritime stocks.
The Chief said the Coast Guard continues efforts with partners to ensure maritime security and protect marine wealth by fighting overfishing. The Coast Guard works to develop services for seafarers with high efficiency through training and administrative steps to enforce the law. He added that awareness activities will be organised for seafarers.
