Bahrain's ePassport wins Global Award

Bahrain’s e-passport won the Global “Best New Passport Award for 2024” in Europe, the Middle East and Africa within the High Security Print (HSP) Awards during a conference held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from March 4 to 7.

The Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa expressed gratitude of the award that is considered an honour to the Kingdom of Bahrain under the prosper era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He praised the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for implementing initiatives to develop NPRA services. He also hailed the support of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who contributed to the current milestone.

The NPRA Undersecretary affirmed the winning would be added to the Kingdom’s accomplishment records and showcase the distinctiveness of the passport in terms of designs, security specifications, and the use of the latest modern identity documents technology. This accomplishment reflects Bahrain's commitment to providing the best services to citizens and residents. 

He thanked the NPRA work team and all contributors to the success of the e-passport, asserting dedication to developing all services provided to citizens and residents. 

It is worth noting that the HSP awards are significant in secure printing. It is considered one of the most prestigious international awards, specialising in innovation and security in the designs of identity documents and banknotes. It honours those distinguished in this field and enhances technical development and security features. It is presented at the regional level in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It includes several categories, such as the best new passport, new banknote, new national ID card, and new identity or travel document.
