MOI

The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, chaired an extraordinary meeting of the National Civil Emergency Management Committee on Monday. Members representing concerned ministries and authorities attended to inspect preparedness for unstable weather and rain impacts.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chief asserted the implementation of the instructions of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Civil Defence Council, to inspect the readiness of concerned authorities to deal with sudden incidents and deal with heavy rain implications. The panel follows up on the weather changes per the weather reports. It works continuously to inspect the readiness of the concerned authorities through proactive planning to enhance preparedness and ability to deal with threats. He highlighted the activation of an integrated plan to deal with unstable weather and an awareness plan by posting general safety instructions for citizens and residents.

The Chief noted the efforts of concerned ministries and authorities to set proactive plans and measures and provide the required services to deal with the rain. He asserted that the committee is in permanent session to deal with changes and provide the necessary services and alternative plans in case of hindrances that could stop the implementation of the actual plans.

He said that concerned authorities would deploy heavily for fast responses to emergencies, and citizens and residents could seek assistance via the emergency hotline (999). Meanwhile, the response teams are ready with the required tools, pumps, and vehicles to handle cases, rescue operations, and assistance, if any.

At the end of the meeting, the committee affirmed the significance of the public being aware of heavy rain and high wind instructions by visiting the National Civil Protection Platform. It also called for caution, seeking information from official sources, and following instructions of specialised authorities for the safety of all.
