Bahrain's e-passport has won the iF Design Award 2024 for the communication and publishing category in Germany. Established in 1953, the award is among the oldest and most prestigious global design awards. It receives more than 11,000 entries annually from all over the world, and the winning of the e-passport is considered a significant milestone to add to the Kingdom’s design and creativity records.

The Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, expressed gratitude for the high level of appreciation that is considered an international honouring to the Kingdom under the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He hailed the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to implement NPRA services development initiatives. He also highlighted the support of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who contributed to achieving international accomplishments and awards.

The NPRA Undersecretary asserted that the award-winning is a global accomplishment to be added to Bahrain’s milestones and affirms the excellence of Bahrain’s e-passport in integrating local culture and heritage with security specifications that enrich the visual attraction of the passport in the design and security features and the use of the latest ID technologies. He continued that the achievement reinforces Bahrain's commitment to providing the best services for citizens and residents.

He thanked the work team and all contributors to the milestone. He asserted the continuation of services development.

He said, “We are celebrating the first anniversary of the e-passport, and the award motivates us to continue with our innovative and development journey of NPRA services to meet the Kingdom 2050 vision.”

Notably, the iF Design Award is of high global importance in the design sector.
