The President of Customs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the Commissioner of Customs and Excise of Hong Kong, Special Administrative regions of China, Louise HO Pui-shan, have signed a mutual recognition agreement of the Authorised Economic Operator programme. Officials from both sides attended.
The President of Customs asserted that the signing of the agreement reinforces trade exchange and customs cooperation between the two countries through the effective and fast implementation of the Authorised Economic Operator requirements and the creation of various economic and commercial benefits opportunities to promote customs cooperation.
He noted that the agreement would facilitate customs procedures and mechanisms through exchanging information and mutual recognition of accredited operators. It also contributes to providing operators with privileges while finalising the customs procedures.
He added that the agreement will provide many facilities to the accredited companies in both countries, including simplified verification of import-related documents, facilitation of the process of clearing imported goods, and the appointment of liaison officers from customs employees to handle issues related to clearing goods for authorised economic operators.
Notably, the Authorised Economic Operator Programme provides various benefits and facilities to companies that adhere to the security standards in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
