The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, chaired Bahrain’s delegation in the 15th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Arab Convention against Corruption at the Arab League in Cairo.
He delivered a speech during the meeting in which he asserted Bahrain's commitment to the Arab Convention against Corruption. He said that Bahrain had taken advanced steps in reinforcing integrity and anti-corruption per the principles of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's reform era and the approach of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Chief conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, valuing his instructions to promote transparency and integrity. He highlighted a series of mechanisms in such regard, including the endorsement of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, the drafting of many laws, the establishment of specialised security authorities and awareness campaigns.
He said that the convention is essential to support economic development by emphasising the strengthening of regional and international cooperation frameworks and enhancing the capabilities of those working in the supervisory field. He said that Bahrain continues to fulfil its responsibilities to implement the convention and support the review process to ensure serious and effective participation in combating all forms of corruption.
The Chief thanked Egypt for hosting the event and for the efforts to ensure its success.
The event discussed several topics on the agenda, including the General Secretariat's report on the measures taken to implement the decisions issued during the fourth session of the Conference and several recommendations issued by previous sessions.
