Per the directives of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa Chairman of the Civil Defence Council, a number of officers from the Interior Ministry took part in the “Response for Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies” workshop to enhance cooperation in the field of public safety and promote civil protection and exchange expertise in cases related to response and rescue during emergencies. The workshop was held in cooperation with the Korean Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) and the Executive Office of the National Civil Emergency Management Committee, as part of the training cooperation in this field, from May 21-22, 2024, in South Korea.
The workshop addressed a number of theoretical and practical aspects related to the regulatory framework for nuclear safety, national responsibility for crises and disasters, and the Radiological Emergency Technical Advisory Centre (AtomCare), in addition to highlighting radiological terrorism and the national system for combating terrorism in Korea.
The workshop came within the framework of regional and international cooperation and coordination, including the cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and South Korea, to prepare emergency plans and exchange expertise in managing nuclear and radiological emergencies.
