Northern Governor Ali bin Al Shaikh Abdulhussein Al Asfoor affirmed that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has guaranteed the free exercise of religious rites for all citizens and residents in the Kingdom.
This came during the annual preliminary meeting held by the governorate with the heads of Mattams (Community Centres) to get ready for the Ashoora season and to monitor the needs and requirements in cooperation with the competent service authorities.
The Northern Governor conveyed to the attendees the greetings of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in the presence of a number of representatives of security and government agencies.
During the meeting, the Northern Governor pointed out that the goal is to determine what the Mattams need in terms of services and recommendations, praising the role of the Mattams heads and their collaboration with government agencies and the governorate's service coordination committee.
Director General of the Northern Governorate Police Directorate Brigadier Saleh Rashid Fahad Al Dossari stressed that Hussaini rituals should be held in their designated areas and should not be deviated from, with prior coordination and commitment to time being required. Director General of Civil Defence Brigadier General Ali Mohammed Jassim Al Kubaisi emphasised the importance of cooperating with Civil Defence in ensuring mourners' and attendees' safety in the event of an emergency. The Ministry of Health’s Director of Public Health, Dr Mohamed Abdulmajeed Alawadhi, noted that it is essential that food is kept at an appropriate temperature and in closed places for the health of attendees.
The attendees praised the role of the Northern Governorate in cooperating with the heads of Maatams (Community Centres) to maintain security and public order during the season.
