MOI

The General Director of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for the Eid Al Adha.

He hailed  HM the King’s royal pardon for some inmates convicted in various cases, hailing HM the King’s decision to include some of the beneficiaries of the alternative sanctions programme in the pardon.

Per the royal directives to expand the implementation of the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law, the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing replaced the imprisonment of 106 inmates after studying the cases and implementing the legal requirements.

The cases have been selected in coordination with the Public Prosecution, and the list of the nominated inmates has been referred to the judge for approval. This brings the total number of beneficiaries from the law since its inception in 2018 to 6,900.

The Director-General hailed HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister's support for the project, reflecting his gratitude for human rights and dedication to providing assistance to beneficiaries to integrate them into society within the criminal justice system.

He highlighted His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa's follow-up on implementing the law within accuracy, humanitarian, and transparency standards for the quality integration of the beneficiaries into society.
