Chief of Public Security visits Bapco Refining

The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, visited the Bapco Refining Company, one of the companies of the Bapco Energies Group. He was welcomed by the Company CEO, Dr Abdulrahman Jawahri, in the presence of the Special Security Force Command, Major-General Waleed Al Shamsi, the Director-General of Civil Defence, Ali Al Kubaisi, and some officers. 

The Chief said that the visit was part of the directive of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to reinforce coordination between the Interior Ministry and Bapco Refining, especially reviewing security measures, safety procedures and emergency management per the unified national concept of the National Emergency Strategy enforced by HE the Interior Minister to protect readiness and preparedness in dealing with emergencies, especially with the about to be completed construction of the new refinery.  

The Chief was briefed on the company's advanced security and safety system. The Company CEO appreciated the significant support of the Interior Ministry in all matters related to emergency management and civil protection, including training the company’s security and safety employees and training courses and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of the company’s affiliates. He hailed the efforts of the General Directorate of Civil Defence and cooperation with the company’s firefighting and rescuing team. 

The Chief visited the Bapco Command Centre and the Control Room for the development of the Bapco refinery. He applauded the remarkable growth of the security systems and safety procedures and the dedication to enhancing the skills of the local security workforce and empowering them to take up essential posts. He said that the company is one of the significant industrial institutions, and its operations require meeting the latest security and safety trends. He asserted the Interior Ministry’s dedication to providing all services to support the company's security. 

At the end of the visit, the Chief of Public Security appreciated the cooperation between the two sides, hailing the professionalism of concerned teams in dealing with an incident in one of the company’s tanks during the last heavy rains and their readiness to control accidents and limit their impacts. He looked forward to more joint exercises and training to promote security and safety. He wished the company further excellence and pioneering in oil production and refining.
