The Children's Cyberspace Protection Unit of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security has joined the International Child Sexual Exploitation database of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).
The Director-General of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, Brigadier Bassam Mohammed Al Marraj, asserted that the joining was part of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa's instructions to benefit from regional and international expertise in protecting children in cyberspace. He highlighted the ongoing follow-up of the Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan.
He said joining the database was part of the recently launched national strategy to protect children in cyberspace and enhance awareness about all relevant risks.
The Director-General said that several unit employees passed a 14-day training course on the database held at the Interpol headquarters in France. It included uploading data and analysing results methods.
It is worth noting that the database aims to assist specialists in cases of sexual and electronic exploitation of children, in addition to member states sharing information and experiences related to such types of issues among themselves and benefiting from the best expertise to combat them.
The Directorate of International Affairs and Interpol joined the database to fight various types of transcontinental crimes.
