The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, in the presence of the Capital Governor, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, inaugurated an awareness exhibition of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science at the Avenues Mall. The event is being held to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
The Chief hailed the support of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for efforts to protect youth from narcotics and their threats, along with his instructions to utilise the latest technologies, including artificial intelligence and innovations.
The Chief affirmed that, given the technological changes in cyberspace and the negative effects of exploiting them, it is important to meet these changes and develop a security work system, including fighting illicit drugs, through rehabilitating the workforce, using modern technologies, and benefiting from the experiences of brotherly and friendly countries.
He highlighted that the Interior Ministry works to fight narcotics in a systematic and organised way per plans and mechanisms for integration between security, community and media and regional and international media, through the National Plan to Combat Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances.
The Chief highlighted the significant role of the Maan (together) against violence and addiction to enhance awareness about the risks of addictions.
The Chief thanked and appreciated all the General Directorate’s affiliates, hailing their awareness efforts to protect the community.
The seven-day exhibition includes various awareness sections and anti-drug security and preventative efforts.
