Director-General of Reformation and Rehabilitation, Brigadier Abdulsalman Al Oraifi, hailed the decision of His Excellency Interior Minister to amend the by law of the Reformation and Rehabilitation organisation law. He said that the decision is a turning point in the care provided to inmates to enhance services. He continued that the rehabilitation and education programmes of the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centres, including religious, awareness and sports activities, are part of efforts to enhance services.
The amendments include the directorate's obligation to allow inmates and detainees to exercise by offering sports equipment and tools.
The Director-General highlighted dedication to respecting the human rights of all inmates and empowering them to practice their religious rituals in a secure and safe environment. He highlighted steps and measures to ensure the rights of inmates to mark Ashoora rituals.
He highlighted the dedication to implementing international standards of punishment and reformation organisations.
