To mark the World Day against Trafficking in Persons 2024, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Forensic Science held a workshop on the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain to maintain its international status for the seventh year in a row, according to the US State Department report.
For this occasion, Deputy Director-General of Criminal Investigations and Forensic Science Brigadier Raed Ali Al Meili pointed out in his speech that the Kingdom of Bahrain continued its efforts to combat trafficking in persons, hailing Bahrain’s human rights milestones per the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He highlighted the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to promote human rights, general freedoms and national work. Also, he added that in implementation of the instructions of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Interior Ministry is keen to promote human rights, noting the regular follow-up of Chief of Public Security Lt. General Tariq bin Hasan Al Hasan.
Brigadier Al Meili appreciated the efforts of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons and the Directorate of Anti-Human Trafficking and Protection of Public Morals at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Forensic Science.
Dr Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in combating the trafficking in persons.
Judge Ibrahim Sultan Al Zayed presented the Supreme Judicial Council’s paper, reviewing the judicial efforts to combat this crime, highlighting the major role of the Public Prosecution in achieving justice.
For his part, the Director of Anti-Human Trafficking and Protection of Public Morals Colonel Abdulwahab Rashid Bunashi, reviewed the efforts of the Interior Ministry and Directorate to combat this crime.
The workshop included working papers presented by a number of specialists from various governmental and private agencies in the Kingdom of Bahrain, during which they reviewed the efforts of these agencies in combating this crime, in addition to their role in enhancing cooperation and coordination with various concerned parties.
