Maan Director presents a lecture during a conference

MOI

The Director of the Maan (together) programme against violence and addiction, Ali Ahmed Ameeni, presented a workshop on curricula for peaceful coexistence and combating extremism, as well as their implementation stages and outcomes. The workshop was held on the sideline of the conference of the D.A.R.E International, in which he chaired the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation. The conference was also attended by representatives from member countries and the fifty US states.
During the workshop, Ameeni highlighted the drafting and implementation stages of the curricula in Bahrain’s schools and mechanisms for measuring their impacts on the beneficiary students. The workshop also focused on the timeline for completing the third phase of a two-year study, which will be launched in the academic year 2024-2025 in partnership with the University of North Carolina and the International D.A.R.E Organisation.
The event discussed the Maan Reginal Centre's accomplishments and latest developments, including the centre’s publications and programmes and means to promote cooperation with local and international universities and research centres.
The “Conceptual Model for the Effectiveness of Knowledge and Skills Transfer in Social Awareness and Preventive Programmes” was also explained. This model would improve the creation, implementation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of such programmes and is considered a Bahraini intellectual property.
The workshop attracted the attendees' interest. They hailed the role of Bahrain’s Interior Ministry through the Maan programme in implementing and developing awareness and preventative programmes for youth using measurable scientific approaches to study their impacts on targeted groups and develop security and community programmes. They affirmed the possibility of benefiting from the Maan programme’s outcomes at the regional and international levels.
Notably, the D.A.R.E organisation provided translation for the workshop in 61 languages to spread its benefits at the most significant geographical scale.
