The Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, received Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy, David Brownstein.
The Director-General welcomed the US official. He also asserted that the Alternative Sentencing and Open Prisons Programme are part of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's comprehensive development project, which is supported by the wise government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
During the meeting, the objectives of the open prisons programme were reviewed as one practical initiative in enhancing community security and developing the human rights system in Bahrain. The importance of joint efforts in various fields to improve cooperation and exchange of expertise between the two friendly countries was also emphasised, which contributes to achieving common goals and developing bilateral relations at all levels.
The US official praised Bahrain's achievements in alternative punishments and the open prisons programme and the support provided by His Excellency Interior Minister to achieve these milestones. He also aspired to promote coordination and cooperation between the two countries.
