The Traffic Operations and Control Directorate of the General Directorate of Traffic registered 582 violations for crossing the emergency lane in September. The directorate highlighted that legal procedures were taken against the violated drivers. It said that such violations hindered traffic. Driving through the emergency lane risks the safety of others in case of traffic accidents that might occur when the violated car collides with vehicles with technical faults in the emergency lane. The violation also hinders the traffic of emergency vehicles that use the lane for speed arrival to provide assistance for traffic, security, medical and fire cases.
The directorate highlighted that traffic monitoring would be intensified on main roads to ensure drivers follow traffic rules for the safety of road users. Awareness campaigns will also continue at various sites, media outlets, and social media to encourage the public to avoid traffic violations.
