The Director of the Passport of the Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs NPRA, along with the Head of Systems and Development Branch, participated in the 31st Annual PKD Meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a specialized agency of the United Nations. The event took place in Xi'an, China, with the participation of 98 member countries registered in the Public Key Directory (PKD).
During the meeting, the latest updates regarding the ePassport, which had been previously approved by ICAO, were discussed. These advancements focus on enhancing traveller identity verification, supporting border control systems, and ensuring the authenticity of electronic passports through PKD membership.
The electronic passport features a secure chip containing the passport holder's information, along with other elements that align with PKD standards. This enhances global trust in the Bahraini passport, facilitates a smoother travel experience for Bahraini citizens, and strengthens border security.
