In its efforts to promote traffic safety among children and youth, the Director- General of Traffic Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, announced a 60% rise in the number of school students benefiting from annual awareness initiatives in the 2023 academic year. More than 26,000 students participated in these programmes, compared to 17,000 in previous years.
Brigadier Al Khalifa highlighted the directorate’s collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the private sector, allowing targeted groups to benefit from these yearly projects. The programme included over 390 lectures delivered across public and private schools, as well as kindergartens.
He further emphasised that the traffic strategy is focused on increasing road safety and fostering traffic awareness, particularly among young children in kindergarten and first grade.
