The General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing participated in the Tree Week initiative. This comes in support of the initiatives of the National Action Plan to achieve carbon neutrality, announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and on the initiative of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister by launching “Tree Week” in the third week of October every year.
The beneficiaries of the alternative sentencing and open prisons planted trees at the open prison complex and other areas.
The Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa asserted that the participation of the beneficiaries in the initiative aims to enable them to contribute to the best interests of the community, in addition to changing the stereotypes about them and involve them in community activities. He said that these activities also contribute to enhancing the values of commitment and discipline among them, which reflects their positive role as individuals seeking to build a better future. He hailed the ongoing support of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to the directorate’s activities.
