The General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior’s Health and Social Affairs Directorate and the National Genome Centre, held a celebration for Bahraini Doctor’s Day, featuring several doctors involved in the Open Prisons Programme.
Director–General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, emphasised that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is a leading model in achieving community partnership through effective cooperation with various sectors of Bahraini society. He highlighted the directives of the wise government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, regarding the importance of integrating and rehabilitating beneficiaries of alternative sentencing programmes and involving them in community initiatives. Also, he lauded the guidance of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in supporting the programmes and activities of the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, particularly in providing essential healthcare and psychological support to the beneficiaries of these programmes.
In this context, the Director-General honoured several doctors for their exceptional efforts in delivering healthcare and medical support for the Open Prisons Programme. Their contributions have played a vital role in the programme's success and in the rehabilitation and reintegration of beneficiaries into society.
The celebration programme also included educational lectures and routine medical check-ups for beneficiaries of Alternative Sentencing and Open Prisons, such as blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, dental care, and more.
