The Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit launched the “Manaar” awareness programme in cooperation with the Islamic Affairs Directorate, the Sunni Endowments Directorate and Jaffary Endowments Directorate of the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs and the NGO Support Directorate of the Ministry of Social Development.
The unit asserted that the programme aims to enhance awareness of all segments of society of the online risks to children through those running places of worship and civic organisations.
The Mannar will be implemented in two phases in which the first stage will be through a series of interactive lectures on cyber risks by preachers, mosque imams, Quran learning teachers, and managers of places of worship. The awareness will highlight the legal tackling of such threats through reporting channels and technological prevention steps. It will also cover psychological signs on children and Bahrain’s laws that protect children and penalize cyber violations.
The second stage will focus on promoting the culture of protecting children from the dangers of cyberspace through sermons, lessons, and various religious and scientific activities, in addition to emphasising the responsibility of parents to protect their children from these dangers and follow up on their various activities online.
