To mark World Children's Day, the General Directorate of Traffic, in partnership with the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait and CrediMax Company, organised an awareness event at the City Centre Mall to enhance children’s awareness of traffic safety.
The Director-General of Traffic, Brigadier Shaikh Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, asserted that the event was part of the directorate’s dedication to informing the public of children's rights and protecting them from traffic accidents through updating the law under the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the inspiration His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He highlighted that the General Directorate started with pioneering awareness projects from the eighties that targeted preschool and school children. Over time, the projects have developed to cover university students to enhance traffic awareness, protect road users, and encourage them to follow traffic rules to strengthen traffic safety rates, especially near educational zones.
The BBK Chief Executive Yaser Alsharifi said that the cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic in organising this event comes from the interest of the Ministry of Interior in the BBK Board of Directors to promote community partnership and the role of the private sector in serving the community, especially children.
In the same context, the CEO of CrediMax, Ahmed Abdulrahman Siyadi, expressed the significance of the event for coinciding with World Child’s Day and focusing on all aspects of children's traffic rights. He added that this comes from CrediMax's role in community partnerships with various government authorities. He praised the role of the General Directorate of Traffic in raising awareness among children.
