On the sideline of the Bahrain International Ironman Championship (Triathlon) that will be held on Friday, 29 November 2024, the General Directorate of Traffic will intensify efforts to regulate the traffic of competitors. It highlighted that some lanes will be allocated for the championship in the morning to ensure the safety of the competitors.
The bicycle race will start at 6:40 am from the race village near Reef Island; then it will turn left at the AlFarooq intersection of the King Faisal Highway to the Sheraton traffic signal. Then, the bicyclists will go via Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway to Zallaq Highway to turn left through Bahrain Bay Road then return through the same road to the traffic signal of the Rashid Equestrian & Horseracing Club and go through the same road and turn right to Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway to reach the finish line at the race village near Al Reef Island by around 12:15 noon. The General Directorate called upon those coming from the Southern Governorate and heading to the Bahrain International Airport to drive through Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway.
Bahrain also hosts Jewellery Arabia, Scent Arabia and Cityscape from November 26 to 30 at the Exhibition World Bahrain, along with the 7th edition of Bahrain Animal Production Show (Mara'ee) at the Bahrain International Endurance Village from November 27 to December 1. Thus, the General Directorate highlighted that those events will coincide with the race on Friday, in which all roads will be opened when they are opened to the public at 4 pm.
The General Directorate called upon road users to follow traffic rules and instructions posted via social media and other media outlets for their safety.
