The alternative sentencing project of the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing won the Arab Government Excellence Award as the best Arab government project for community development of 2024 during the ceremony held by the Arab League’s Arab Administrative Development Organisation.
The Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on the high-profile milestone. He thanked His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for his wise instructions that contributed to the winning.
He also congratulated His Excellency Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for winning the Best Minister Award and Youth Minister, Rawan Bint Najeeb Tawfiqi for Lamea programme winning the Best Arab Government Project for Youth Empowerment.
The Director-General asserted that winning of the alternative sentencing programme reflects the noble values and principles of the reform era of HM the King. He highlighted the directives and follow-up of HRH the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister, as well as his ongoing support for this pioneering project to achieve its goals. He hailed the dedication of HE the Interior Minister to implement the project per the highest international standards, contributing to its winning of international awards. He said that the project is considered a turning point in the reform system, community development and reintegration of the beneficiaries into society.
He said that the project’s principles are solid and promote humanitarian values by offering the latest opportunities and innovative programmes to enhance the rehabilitation of beneficiaries.
He hailed the efforts of the United Arab Emirates to patronise the award and the organisation for supporting regional and Arab development work. He noted that the award motivates extraordinary experiences in different fields, including community development. He thanked the organisation and all its affiliates.
