Southern Governor Inaugurates a heritage festival to mark national celebrations

MOI

His Highness Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa inaugurated the Southern Governorate Heritage Festival at Khalifa Al-Kubra Park in Riffa. This event continues the series of festivities commemorating the celebration of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s National Day, the 25th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne, and the accompanying national events. Distinguished guests attended the inauguration, and the event witnessed a significant turnout from the community.
HH the Southern Governor emphasised the celebration's role in reviving and preserving the rich heritage of the Southern Governorate, including customs and traditions passed down through generations. He highlighted the importance of community partnership and the values of belonging and citizenship. The festival featured various heritage sections showcasing local crafts, professions, and traditional industries. Attendees enjoyed displays from local and heritage project owners, productive family corners, and a variety of popular foods. Activities included segments from the "Our Bahrain" initiative and a dedicated children's area where children could engage with Watani magazine.
HH the Southern Governor also toured the festival, which displayed historical photographs of Riffa and significant landmarks from the Southern Governorate, collectables, and traditional costumes.
The Southern Governorate has organised an extensive programme of events from December 5 to 15, supported by sponsors like Al-Salam Bank and Al-Ahli United Bank, fostering community engagement and celebrating the region's historical legacy.
