The President of Customs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, attended the celebration of the Customs Affairs to mark World Customs Day.
At the beginning of the ceremony, which was attended by Customs Affairs officials, the President of Customs thanked His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for his support. He highlighted the dedication of Customs Affairs to marking this occasion annually, which highlights three foundations: competency, security, and prosperity.
In the same context, he highlighted the accomplishment of the first foundation through setting solutions and steps. He noted revising and simplifying many customs procedures to ensure quality and accuracy in service provision and supporting backup systems that operate through analysing data by artificial intelligence and reinforcing commercial operations and partnerships to enhance mutual trust with clients and partners in the public and private sectors.
He asserted the significance of security without clashing with economic activities to ensure supply chain security by implementing the SAFE standards and fighting illegal trade and money laundering in cooperation with regional and international authorities. He affirmed the importance of collaboration between government organisations to improve preparedness for crises, disasters, emergencies, and cybersecurity threats.
Regarding prosperity, the third foundation, the President of Customs, stressed the outcomes of joint efforts to achieve the highest satisfaction levels and development sustainability.
He said that the three foundations and other foundations are a development platform for Customs Affairs, providing insight into a prosperous future for the upcoming generations of customs affiliates. He concluded by affirming the continuation of a better tomorrow through cooperation.
The ceremony included honouring outstanding employees for their extraordinary efforts in 2024.
