The Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate has arrested three Asians for a social media scam. They cheated a woman through a social media platform. The victim contacted one of the suspects to inquire about an advertisement for selling a mobile phone. She ordered and paid for the phone in advance and received a damaged one with different specifications than the one she ordered. He banned her through all means of communication when she asked him for a replacement or to get her money back. The woman filed a case at the Samaheej Police Station, and an investigation into the case led to identifying and arresting the suspects. All legal proceedings were taken, and the case was referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Interior Ministry called upon the public to be cautious when dealing with unreliable e-advertisements and not transfer money without ensuring the credibility of the sellers. Suspicious e-scams should be reported via the official channels.
