The General Supervisor of the Ministry of Interior Bahrain Tennis Challenger, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, announced the launch of the 4th edition of the tournament in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which will be held from February 9 to 15. Organised by the Public Security Sports Association, the competition will take place at the Public Security Officers Club, and top global players will participate.
He highlighted that during a press conference at the Public Security Officers Club, where details about the tournament were announced, the draw was held, and the new logo was launched.
Shaikh Khalid expressed appreciation for the support and instructions of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who contributed to the success of hosting the tournament in Bahrain for the fourth consecutive year and promoted the Kingdom’s status as a remarkable destination for hosting major sports events and supporter to global sports. He pointed out that the tournament won the Best Asia-Pacific Championship Award from the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), reflecting the event's high organisational steps and professionalism, along with the capabilities of the Bahraini teams to organise major events. He affirmed that the award enhances and promotes the challenging spirit to provide the best.
He affirmed that all logistical and technical preparations had been finalised to ensure the success of the tournament, in which all capabilities and resources have been allocated, along with getting ready to meet the highest international standards that cover the courts and service utilities to offer an integrated sports experience for the participants and the audience. He added that per the dedication of the organising committee to enhance the tournament’s level, the "Hawk-Eye" technology will be introduced in the competition. It is a technology used in the Grand Slam tournaments, which enhances the accuracy of refereeing and adds a professional technical dimension. It is also expected that this technology will raise competitiveness and provide an exceptional sports experience for the audience and tennis fans.
At the end of his remarks, Shaikh Khalid thanked the tournament’s sponsors, partners, and supporters. He invited tennis fans to register via the tournament's link to attend the matches and enjoy the sideline events.
From his side, the President of the Public Security Sports Association, Brigadier Khalid Al Khayat, Chairman of the Tournament Organising Committee, explored the Ministry of Interior Bahrain Tennis Challenger’s developments since its inspection in 2012. He said it had become an ATP-recognised sporting event due to its importance in the international tournament calendar. He said the tournament succeeded in attracting top-world-ranked players and becoming one of the leading sports events in the Gulf and Arab world. He said that the tournament is developing annually in terms of organisation, participants and sports establishments, in which all technical and technological requirements are provided for distinguished experiences for players and audience.
He pointed out that the competitions will start tomorrow, Sunday, with the preliminary rounds, with the participation of professional players from different countries, reflecting the tournament's strength and international importance.
For his part, Valery Lutkov, Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Supervisor, congratulated the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of Interior on the competition, winning the award for the best tournament in the Asia-Pacific region. He said that the tournament became a prominent part of the ATP calendar for its ongoing successes that attracted professional players worldwide, with its organisational level and intense competitions.
