The 4th edition of the Ministry of Interior Bahrain Tennis Challenger competitions launched. Organised in cooperation between the Public Security Sports Association and the Public Security Officers Club, the first day witnessed intense matches and high professionalism of players.
Russian Marat Sharipov started his journey in the tournament with a well-deserved victory over Egyptian Karim Maamoun in two sets without a response, with a score of (7-5 and 6-2), as Sharipov gave a strong performance, especially in the second set, which he dominated with strong serves and accurate shots.
In the second match, Italian Alberto Brozetti defeated German Justin Engel in two straight sets (6-1 and 6-4) after a distinguished performance that empowered him to win quickly.
The most exciting match was between Colin Sinclair from the Northern Mariana Islands and Ryan Nijboer from the Netherlands. The game witnessed intense competition that lasted for three sets. Sinclair managed to turn the match around and win (3-6, 6-4, 6-3), showing his ability to come back despite a weak start.
About Bahraini players, Yousef Qaed lost to Bulgarian Dimitar Kuzmanov in two straight sets. At the same time, Bahraini Elyas Abduljalil could not keep up with the performance of Russian Peter Bar Biryukov, and the match ended with a score of (6-2 and 6-3) in Biryukov’s favour.
In another match, Egyptian Fares Zakaria achieved a significant victory over German Patrick Zahraj with a score of (6-2 and 6-3), presenting a distinguished performance in terms of strength and speed in exchanging balls.
The rest of the matches of the first day also witnessed Georgian Alexander Bakshi’s victory over Japanese Kaichi Uchida with a score of (6-1 and 6-4), while Ukrainian Vitaliy Sachko achieved a deserved win over Irish Peter Buldorini with two sets to none (6-3 and 6-3).
In another match, German Lucas Gerch defeated Irishman Samir Hamza Raguig 6-2, 6-4. Gerch dominated the game thanks to his strong performance.
The first day's matches concluded with Russian Ivan Liutarevich defeating his compatriot Evgeny Karlovskiy (6-1, 6-4), while Dutchman Jelle Sels won the last match of the day by defeating British Ali Habib (6-4, 6-2), after a distinguished performance, especially in the second set.
The tournament's competitions will continue in the coming days with more exciting matches. Intense confrontations between a group of world-ranked players are expected amid a distinguished audience presence that adds more enthusiasm to the tournament.
