The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, Chairman of the National Civil Emergency Management Committee, inaugurated a workshop on current chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear Challenges. Organised by the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Italian Tor Vergata University of Rome, the workshop was attended by the Deputy Chief of Public Security, Major-General Dr Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Directors General. Around 150 representatives from the public and private sectors participated.
The Chief highlighted the ongoing support of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to promote security and safety. He also highlighted the significance of international cooperation in facing the increasing challenges of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear risks, especially developing proactive strategies to raise preparedness and improve effective response.
For chemical risks, the Chief praised the organisers' efforts in preparing this workshop and its major role in building national capabilities, developing mechanisms for dealing with modern risks, and enhancing international cooperation with various institutions working to address security and environmental challenges.
The workshop discusses several vital topics, including future radiation and nuclear risk challenges in light of regional conflicts, using artificial intelligence to improve response to such incidents, and developing training scenarios using the latest technologies.
