The General Directorate of Traffic seized 170 unlicensed scooters and similar vehicles after the announcement on February 9 banning them on main public roads, vehicle lanes, road shoulders, emergency lanes, and designated stopping areas. The announcement warned of the confiscation of violated scooters and legal steps against the drivers.
The directorate highlighted that the procedures are part of ongoing traffic safety efforts to protect road users, especially due to the irregular use of such transportation, which causes fatal injuries and accidents and risks the safety of lives and property. Field campaigns will continue to tackle such violations.
The directorate called on all scooter users to use them in designated places and adhere to traffic regulations and rules to achieve a safe traffic environment for all.
