The Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, received a delegation from the Iraqi Interior Ministry, chaired by Assistant Minister of Interior for Training Affairs Lt-General Hadi Razij Kassar.
He welcomed the delegation and asserted that the alternative sentencing and open prisons programmes are among His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's royal initiatives. He said that His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, follows up on the two programmes.
Both sides reviewed cooperation and coordination in alternative sanctions and topics of common interest. A brief on alternative sentencing applications and the process of open prisons was presented.
After that, the delegation toured the open prison complex and learned about its educational buildings, which are equipped with the latest educational system, housing units, and other facilities to train the beneficiaries.
The delegation hailed Bahrain’s efforts to develop the criminal justice system and expressed dedication to reinforcing the exchange of expertise and successful experiences.
