Al Sariya hosts Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing

In the presence of the Minister of Information, Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al-Noaimi, Al Sariya Show hosted the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing to showcase the latest milestones in human rights.

He also highlighted the success of the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing in offering penalties’ alternatives within the best legal and human rights practices.

Initially, he highlighted Bahrain’s international human rights status through the implementation of the Alternative Sentencing Project, which offers numerous rehabilitation programmes, particularly the open prisons, marking the first of its kind in the Arab world.
 
He stated that Bahrain has been a pioneer in implementing development projects as part of the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He praised the role of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, the primary supporter of the Al Sariya programme, in promoting Bahrain’s national heritage.

He pointed out the instructions of His Excellency the Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, to implement rehabilitation projects to the highest international standards and reintegrate the beneficiaries into society.

He also emphasised the directorate's commitment to providing a suitable and supportive environment for alternative sentencing beneficiaries, offering them psychological and social support, as well as training in various fields to facilitate their integration into the labour market in collaboration with government and private authorities. He stated that the directorate is committed to eliminating obstacles and achieving criminal justice through flexibility in implementing alternative sanctions, enabling individuals to lead everyday lives.

He also highlighted efforts to support and invest in the beneficiaries’ talents, including a programme called “Shid Hailak” that works to enrich their lifestyles and reinforce their participation in positive initiatives.

He concluded by thanking the Ministry of Information and the Show organisers for their efforts in offering heritage and culturally enriching content to promote national and Gulf identity. He wished them all the best.

On the sidelines of the show, some talented beneficiaries are showcasing their traditional handmade items at the Heritage Village.
