The Chief Executive of the Financial Intelligence National Centre and Chairperson of the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing policy committee Shaikha May bint Mohamed Al Khalifa received Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) President, Samya Abu Shareef, Vice President, Hamid AlZaabi, Executive Secretary, Suliman Aljabrin and accompanying delegation to mark the 20th anniversary of the formation of the group in Bahrain.
Shaikha May pointed out that Bahrain has hosted the MENAFATF Secretariat headquarters since its inception, reflecting the wise leadership's firm political commitment to supporting joint regional action and a practical embodiment of the Kingdom's vision to enhance financial security and stability.
She emphasised commitment to supporting regional and international efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. She commended the group's important role in promoting compliance with international standards and cooperation with member states.
For her part, Abu Shareef expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain for hosting the group, and she stressed the importance of continuing joint coordination to advance regional efforts.
