Coast Guard continues law enforcement campaigns

MOI

The Coast Guard has reaffirmed its continued efforts to combat all forms of marine violations across Bahrain’s territorial waters through intensified law enforcement campaigns.
These efforts aim to enhance maritime security and safety and curb illegal fishing practices that rely on banned materials and threaten the marine ecosystem and fish stocks.
The Coast Guard stressed that ensuring a safe and sustainable marine environment requires seagoers' full compliance with relevant laws and regulations prohibiting overfishing.
It noted that patrols succeeded in detecting 64 violations related to marine wealth and environmental protection during the first months of 2025. These included violations involving shrimp fishing and the possession of bottom trawl nets, which are prohibited by law.
Approximately 3,000 kilograms of confiscated marine catch were sold at public auction by applicable regulations, and the proceeds were deposited into the Public Prosecution’s designated account.
The Coast Guard called on all fishermen and seagoers to adhere strictly to the law and observe all required conditions. It also confirmed that it will continue taking the necessary security and legal measures in line with its responsibility to uphold maritime safety and security.
