His Excellency Ministry of Interior Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, received Tonya Bentlan, the Regional Director for the Middle East of Home Office International Operations in the United Kingdom (UK) and the accompanying delegation. Assistant Undersecretary of Ports, Search and Follow-up and a number of officials attended the meeting.
His Excellency welcomed the visiting delegation, highlighting the importance of the visit in strengthening cooperation and security coordination between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom. He emphasised its pivotal role in supporting joint security efforts.
His Excellency affirmed that the comprehensive development and modernisation strategy led by His Excellency, Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has had a profound impact in achieving qualitative milestones, both in terms of developing human resources and enhancing the quality and efficiency of services provided.
The meeting also included discussions on areas of mutual cooperation, particularly regarding the facilitation of travel procedures and identity verification. His Excellency stressed the importance of benefiting from the United Kingdom’s pioneering experiences in this field and enhancing the exchange of expertise in combating organised and transnational crime, as well as crimes such as forgery and human trafficking.
Both sides also underscored the importance of investing in the development of national competencies through specialised training programmes and the adoption of technological solutions, which contribute to enhancing security readiness and delivering more advanced and efficient services.
