As part of ongoing inspection campaigns to enforce the law and address all forms of maritime violations, the Coast Guard has conducted an inspection operation that resulted in the detection of several offences, including the use of fishing nets in protected areas where fishing is prohibited under the relevant decision.
The campaign also led to the seizure of illegal fishing nets in the southern area of Hair Shtaya, which threatens marine biodiversity and navigational safety.
The Coast Guard has urged all seafarers to comply with the Kingdom’s maritime and fishing regulations and report any incidents or violations by contacting 17700000 or 994. The Coast Guard affirmed that such campaigns will continue to monitor and address all violations while also promoting public awareness on the importance of abiding by laws and regulations to preserve and sustain Bahrain’s marine resources.
