The Community Affairs Directorate at the Public Security Presidency participated in a panel session titled " Protecting Our Children in the Digital World, " with the participation of the Minister of Social Development, Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi. The Executive Office of the Gulf Cooperation Council of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs organised the session in cooperation with the Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security.
Assistant Chief of Public Security for Community Affairs, Brigadier Dr Ammar Mustafa Al Sayed, affirmed that the participation reflects the Interior Ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital safety and its commitment to shielding children from cyber risks through comprehensive strategies and strengthened regional cooperation.
He emphasised the importance of public awareness and the need for a collaborative approach involving government authorities and families to protect children from online exploitation and blackmail. He noted that Bahrain has taken proactive steps in this area, including intensive awareness campaigns and the development of digital protection mechanisms in coordination with relevant authorities.
The Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit presented a paper highlighting the main threats and challenges faced by children online, as well as the modern methods used in online luring and exploitation. The Unit stressed that this participation underscores the importance of strengthening cooperation between security and community stakeholders to ensure a safe digital environment. It also underscored the need to intensify digital awareness and education, and to bolster partnerships with families and educational institutions to help raise a generation that is conscious of cyber risks and capable of interacting responsibly and safely with technology.
