Chief of Public Security invites the public to visit National Civil Protection Platform

MOI

The Chief of Public Security and Chairman of the National Committee for Civil Emergency Management, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, affirmed that the recognition of Bahrain’s National Civil Protection Platform as an official reference by the Arab Coordination Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction under the Arab League, and its inclusion as a model by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction on its PreventionWeb portal, represents a qualitative achievement in advancing public safety awareness and community education on disaster risk reduction.

He commended the unwavering support of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Civil Defence Council. He noted his instructions to maintain the platform, launched on 3 November 2023, as a national initiative to enhance public safety by providing residents and citizens with vital safety information through a technology-based approach and a community-oriented security culture.

The Chief pointed out that the platform is a product of the National Civil Emergency Committee's vision and strategy, aligning with the Civil Defence Council’s objectives. It reflects a forward-looking approach that employs advanced technology to strengthen community preparedness and embed public safety principles in line with global shifts, supporting the development of an innovative and sustainable security system.

He highlighted that the platform’s regional and international recognition stems from its continuous updates and development, interactive nature, and core mission to raise public awareness in civil protection.

He described the platform as one of Bahrain’s best practices in public awareness for disaster risk reduction and a model of the Kingdom’s vision for a safer society. It functions within a comprehensive national framework to boost societal resilience.

Participants in the annual Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week in Geneva, including UN representatives, NGOs, the private sector, and academia, praised Bahrain’s platform. The platform aspires to be a national hub for information, early warning, and community-based training. It provides integrated services, including early alerts, emergency preparedness guides, and community partnership programmes.

The Chief invited the public to visit the National Civil Protection Platform via its official website https://www.ncpp.gov.bh/disasters-and-emergencies/public-safety-measures/. He encouraged everyone to explore the essential safety resources it offers. He stressed that the platform is a sophisticated information system and a civilised message that readiness is no longer optional, but a global imperative.
