As part of its commitment to ensuring the safety of Hajj pilgrims and raising awareness of safety and prevention requirements during the Hajj season, the General Directorate of Civil Defence has launched an awareness campaign targeting pilgrims departing from the Kingdom of Bahrain through Bahrain International Airport and the King Fahad Causeway.
The campaign aims to familiarise pilgrims with guidelines and instructions that contribute to protecting lives and property. This is being achieved through the distribution of awareness brochures, direct guidance, and the use of digital tools to promote safe practices, whether during travel or while residing in the holy sites.
In coordination with Hajj delegations, awareness lectures on public safety were also conducted for pilgrims. These included practical demonstrations on how to use fire extinguishers and identification of emergency exits, as part of efforts to enhance readiness for handling emergencies. Additionally, Hajj organisers were provided with a digital barcode linking to visual awareness materials, including videos and safety guidelines, allowing easy access via mobile devices.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence emphasised the importance of early awareness. It urged all pilgrims to adhere to safety procedures, including locating emergency exits, avoiding the use of non-compliant electrical devices, and storing items safely in accommodation areas.
Pilgrims are also encouraged to visit the National Civil Protection Platform at www.ncpp.gov.bh to access the Hajj safety guide and the necessary precautions to be taken before and during the pilgrimage, thereby enhancing preparedness and situational awareness.
These efforts come within the framework of the Civil Defence’s strategy to promote a culture of community safety and ensure a safe and incident-free Hajj season.
