The Capital Governorate planted trees in Bu Ashira Park as part of its "Capital, a Healthy Governorate" initiative, implemented in partnership with the World Health Organisation. The event was held to mark World Environment Day.
During the event, His Excellency the Capital Governor, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman bin Rashid Al Khalifa, highlighted that this initiative reflects the Capital Governorate's sustained commitment to promoting environmental awareness throughout society. This is pursued through comprehensive programmes, including coastal clean-ups and urban greening projects, designed to safeguard the local ecosystem.
He emphasised the importance of integrating environmental sustainability principles and promoting green spaces. He reaffirmed the governorate's ongoing support for initiatives advancing the Green Capital project, which was launched in 2014, aligning with Bahrain's national strategy for environmental preservation and urban greenery.
The event was held in cooperation with the Maan (Together) programme against violence and addiction, as well as the Indian Ladies Association, with the participation of numerous volunteers.
