The General Directorate of Civil Defence has launched a self-protection awareness campaign targeting shop workers in public markets, with the first phase taking place in Manama Suq in the Capital Governorate. The initiative aims to enhance safety procedures and prevent potential risks as part of a comprehensive inspection and monitoring plan for market workers.
The campaign included providing safety tips to raise workers’ awareness, as well as training them on how to properly use fire extinguishers and emergency exits. Special posters detailing fire prevention and safety requirements in public markets were also distributed.
This campaign comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the culture of prevention and protection in markets and reduce fire incidents related to the storage of goods in shops. Awareness campaigns will continue as part of an integrated regulatory plan to ensure the highest levels of safety across public markets in all governorates of the Kingdom.
